Force aiming for strong home

Force aiming for strong home finish as Sunderland look to maintain their hold on the top of the Premier League with a solid home win over Sunderland on Saturday.

Coutinho is pleased with his side's start to the season but admits a string of poor form has left him having to find a more creative balance after he joined from Man City in August.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insists Liverpool can now concentrate on the next step of their Europa League campaign by securing a top-four finish.

But with the Reds on the cusp of securing Champions League football this season Rodgers says, with Coutinho's departure, he will be desperate to keep him.

"It's something you always have to worry about, a big loss for the team," he said. "But the team is doing really well and I think it's safe to say, when we have a team that is scoring a lot of goals and scoring at a good pace, we should be happy.

"The club is in great condition and it's great for the fans, not just for us, but the rest of the club and the country as well.

"I think Brendan is right, it's something that you always have to worry about when you pick players up as you start a new season and that's why it's just a great position. But, from the players' perspective, it's not easy and we have to look in our own eyes and understand.

"If I had to add anything, I would say we always have to look to see what's happening in our own game, what are our weaknesses, our strengths, and do we work with them to learn and improve, to go forward and improve.

"It was difficult because some teams didn't have a team like us but a great balance of good goals and the other team playing from behind, I think that it's fantastic that we were able to stay calm and concentrate on the next stage of the season."

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet has called upon Liverpool striker Emre Can, who has been a central figure in recent victories at home and away, to improve after a first half that cost Liverpool five late goals.

"Emre Can had a very positive game, a very positive performance," said Poyet. "He showed that his quality and our desire, when we want to play from behind, we need him to be there at times because he plays a key role in that.

"The goals didn't give us away and I think that was what he always does. He is a top player in the game, a top player in the club. He is always there, he has given us goals in important games against teams that would normally be attacking so it was a great performanc

Nsw parliament passes motion condemning opposition leader over Facebook post http://t.co/1lKwfU1CgJpic.twitter.com/Jd7vkGK8VV — RT (@RT_com) October 21, 2015

"We would like the opposition to stop calling for the resignation of the president," said Nadja Elbaz, an MP from the ruling PYD. She later added that Elbaz wanted the motion condemning the opposition and calling for the president's resignation to be passed by parliament.

It's understood that Elbaz said that the parliament must pass the motion unanimously because she believes the president should be impeached from office. "The president has an opinion. He doesn't have a job," she said.

Elbaz also said that the opposition should be calling for the formation of a new government, as her party cannot take a seat in such a new government. The opposition, however, has rejected this proposal because Elbaz was already the chair of the ruling PYD.

"We should be talking about forming a government in a state as it is now," Elbaz said. "It's time for a new step in Syria's life."

The move comes on the heels of an unprecedented vote in Turkey as a vote for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will happen on Tuesday.

Erdogan has been accused in recent days of having used the state of emergency set up in order to quash protests that have continued for the past week. The ruling party has denied allegations that the law has been used to suppress political demonstrations.
